Competition Reopened and Changed! Check Post For Details.

Here we go guys! Gm3d's 3rd competition!!

The theme is 3d Minigame/Arcade Game, so you have to create some sort of 3d minigame, something that can be played for a short time, something like Tetris or Solitaire, or an adicting arcade style game, like pacman or galaga. The game can be anything, with any theme, but it must be a game that can be played for short time spans, like 5-15 minutes, or an arcade style gameplay.

Winners will be voted on by the members of Gm3d. Any ties will be decided by me, Zachman, or a member of the Gm3d Staff. If you submit an entry, you can not vote on your entry, you must vote on someone else's.

Here's the rules:

* Must be an 3d Minigame/Arcade Game as defined above, and created with Game Maker.
* You must be a member of Gm3d, and you must post your entry in the competition topic. If you are not a member, you can register by clicking here.
* The entry must include a .gm6 or .gmk file, and an .exe of the .gm6 or .gmk file. Please place your files in a .zip file, not .rar file. Rar files will be accepted, but I prefer .zip files wink.gif
* If you use someone else's textures, code, etc., you must give proper credit.
* Game should be under 20mb. If it is slightly over, that's fine. Dlls are allowed. The combined total of the .gm6 or .gmk file, the .exe, and any dlls and model files you have must be 20mb or under though.
* Deadline for entries is Wednesday, September 30th, midnight CST. Any entries after that time will not count.
* You can host your game anywhere, including yoyogames.com, but it must be downloadable. I will mirror hosting, if I find necessary.
* Games should be in windowed mode, not fullscreen.

Rules subject to change. If you're game does not comply with any of these rules, your entry may be subject to disqualification.

Prizes will be an award tacked onto your profile, and you will also get a signature banner to place in your sig. Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

Good Luck Guys!

Vadim, you don't have to make a entry especially for this comp, but I would prefer it wink.gif

Mick, I figured there would be a couple like pacman or tetris, but I figure there will be a couple original ideas as well biggrin.gif

I'm guessing it's the kind of game that is ferociously addicting, for I never play Tetris for only ten minutes.

Anyhow, I'm entering. Dunno what yet, though.

Yep... That's the idea wink.gif yet it has to be something that can be played for a couple of minutes at a time...

What about a tower defense? Would it be a minigame if I made it small enough?

Edit:
Turns out I won't be participating in this comp. Too much on my plate. Just took me a bit of dropping food to realize it.

they are never played for just 5/10 minutes at a time... take Tetris for example. I can play that game for hours (on the original gameboy! Yes I still have 1 ohmy.gif )

I have one too wink.gif and a gameboy pocket tongue.gif

That would be ok. basically, the games should be an addicting game that you would want to play for hours and hours, but can be played for a couple minutes at a time.
here's and example of what I mean:

It depends on my projects. If I finish, maybe.

Anyhow, I was thinking of a FPS - Tower Defense Hybrid that's fast paced, kinda like the UT3 Mod Sanctum, or Sanction, or something like that. The thing is that waves are extremely small, so you could litterally play a few minutes for about 5 or 6 waves, quit, then come back later, starting exactly where you were.

If I don't do it in GM, I'll probably make a Source Mod or make it with C++ and Irrlicht.
