I will start the first Gm3d competition soon, but I want to hear some ideas for a theme... post any ideas you have and we'll vote on some that will become the theme for each competition.

I'll start with a few:
  • 3d Effect
  • 3d Table-Top Sports (pool, air hockey, table soccer, etc.)
  • 3d Environment (best outdoor/indoor room... like the 1st comp from the old gm3d)
Ones you guys came up with:
  • 3d Physics
  • Classic 3d: Remake a 2d classic game (anything from galaga to pac-man) in 3d. .
  • Best 3d Racing Game
  • Best 3d Cutscene
  • Best 3D platformer
  • Best 3D FPS AI (not 100% perfect shot and always hit)
  • Best room (like old comp from old forum)
  • Best 3d Deathmatch game
  • Best 3d Space Environment

3d graphics... I'd fail. Maybe best physics W/O a .dll or something of the sort. Start the first on out small, but don't make it too easy. Don't make it too hard either though

Well id fail at physics tongue.gif

Yeah noo DLLs

I like trying to do best possible graphics in my games, like my Resident Evil Game, I spent like 2 days on lighting, effects and movement in ONE room

best 3d graphics is a bit too broad... 3d physics sound pretty good. It's not that hard to make something look really good... take my tilt factor game for example. You would be really surprised to see my code for the physics in the game. definitely not what you would expect wink.gif

Edit: mick, for graphics, best lighting or something like that would be better than best graphics... not so broad wink.gif

We should have a most "pretty" environment competition.

Edit:
Yes, I know that you've already suggested it. But it's okay if I state my opinion anyways.

tongue.gif lol... You are always entitled to your opinion, and I'm glad you stated it!

I'm going to start the first comp theme voting... check for the topic and vote for your favorite. Keep the theme ideas coming, because when I start the voting for the second theme, I'll be looking here for ideas wink.gif

Here's some random ideas:
-Classic 3d: Remake a 2d classic game (anything from galaga to pac-man) in 3d. Whether or not the gameplay turns 3d or stays 2d is up to you.
-Best Racing Game? Make a racing game...

We each make a cutscene in 3d using gamemaker.
Sort of like a movie. It would have little or no user input, and could be about whatever you wanted. It could tell a story, be an action scene, or anything else.

The 3D animations would be too hard

It doesn't have to have people...
You could make a first person cutscene, or make it be about tanks or cube people or whatever.
